Finances 101
Each year, Firelands FCU brings Finances 101 to local schools, giving high school juniors a hands-on lesson in real-world budgeting. Through 12 interactive stations, students navigate financial decisions based on a game card that outlines their job, income, marital status, taxes and debt. They’ll face the challenge of budgeting for essentials like housing, transportation, groceries, and childcare—just like in real life!
With the help of 50 volunteers from Firelands FCU and community partners, this program helps students build essential financial skills they’ll carry into adulthood.

The Wounded Soldiers Fund (WSF) was founded in Bellevue, Ohio by veterans with the goal of helping families whose children were injured during the War on Terror. The WSF provides financial support for travel, lodging, and other miscellaneous expenses so that families can be with their wounded loved ones, regardless of the military service branch.
As the WSF has grown, it now includes several neighboring communities such as Norwalk, Galion, and Bucyrus, Ohio. The Trustees are responsible for determining eligibility and are the final authority on all applications submitted outside of their specific area of coverage.
*Any money in the WSF at the end of the War on Terror will be donated to military charities.
