What does your credit union do that demonstrates Financial Inclusion for all?

Finances 101

Firelands FCU hosts Finances 101 in local school districts every year.

Often referred to as the “game of life,” Finances 101 offers high school juniors the opportunity to obtain real-life budgeting skills when they participate in a series of 12 interactive stations. Students receive a game card that lists their job, marital status, monthly income, and debt.  Each station focuses on future financial responsibilities and they have to budget how to buy a home, a car, and clothes and pay for child care, utilities, and groceries. 50 volunteers comprised of Firelands FCU team members and community partners come together to present this program every year.

Wounded Soldiers Fund

The Wounded Soldiers Fund (WSF) was founded in Bellevue, Ohio by veterans with the goal of helping families whose children were injured during the War on Terror. The WSF provides financial support for travel, lodging, and other miscellaneous expenses so that families can be with their wounded loved ones, regardless of the military service branch.

As the WSF has grown, it now includes several neighboring communities such as Norwalk, Galion, and Bucyrus, Ohio. The Trustees are responsible for determining eligibility and are the final authority on all applications submitted outside of their specific area of coverage.

*Any money in the WSF at the end of the War on Terror will be donated to military charities.

Trustees of the WSF are:

Donn Rospert, Marine Corp League, USMC Veteran of Vietnam

Jerry Risner, SFC Army National Guard, Army Veteran of Iraq

Robert F. Ward, SSG. U.S. Army, Army Veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan

The WSF is a tax exempt 501(C) (3) organization – (tax exempt number available upon request). Individuals or organizations wishing to donate to this fund may do so by contacting Donn Rospert 419-483-2444 or by calling Firelands Federal Credit Union at 419-483-4180 or 1-800-276-5775. Also, you may visit one of the Firelands Federal Credit Union locations in Bellevue, Norwalk, Monroeville, Bucyrus or Galion, Ohio.

Thank you for your donations.
